Per Julienna "A seed went up in space and grew a little and came back to earth and now it's planted at Seven Oaks".
Per the school website, "October 2nd was a historic moment as Seven Oaks Elementary officially became Moon Tee Stewards for NASA’s Moon Tree Program!
Our Moon Tree was a part of NASA’s Artemis I Mission which carried seeds from across the United States and orbited the moon in late 2022. Through NASA’s partnership with the U.S. Forestry Service, those seeds were germinated in Forest Service nurseries and research centers- then shared with communities like ours. This tree in particular has local roots too- it’s was grown at Lucky Peak Nursery right here in Idaho
A huge thank you to the Boise National Forest for donating this tree and for giving our students a once in a lifetime opportunity chance to connect with bit of space exploration and getting excited to learn about this special tree. We can’t wait to watch it grow along with our students! "
