Tucker is definitely on the naughty list right now. Last week Chief and him got into a "little" argument over a bone. Tucker's thick skin kept him protected, but Chief ended up getting a little gash on his leg. We cleaned it and thought it was just a little cut, but by the weekend Jonathan noticed it was pretty red and said the skin was detached from the muscle. So we headed to our home away from home....the vet. Our favorite vet, Dr. Braumschmidt, was there and took great care of Chief. They had to sedate him and stitched up his hole and then made an incision above and below the hole and put a tube in to it to drain the fluid out. So now, poor Chief has this tube poking out of him that drips blood all the time. Needless to say, he's been wearing t-shirts so that he doesn't leak on the floor. He also got subcutaneous emphysema (air under the skin) down his leg and it feels like bubble wrap or rice krispies under his skin. Although, it hasn't been all bad for Chief because he got to go to work with Jonathan today.
We go back on Wednesday to get the tube taken out, so we are crossing our fingers that all goes well, or else we'll have to sell Tucker to pay for the vet bills. Just kidding Tucker....we love you!!!
Here is a picture of Chief's "situation"
