December 4-
(this picture is so Julienna...bandaid on her toe for no reason, little drool on her chin, and a smile as wide as they come)
Height: 34.2 inches (69%)
Weight: 23.37 lbs (10%)
Oh, I wish I could slow it down or at least bottle it up. Julienna is now becoming her own little person. She is just so stinking cute and the spitting image of her brother!! She is mostly girl, but some of this transformer stuff is rubbing off on her a bit. She does love to carry around her dolly or a purse.
She hates the word "NO". Every time she hears it, she gets big alligator tears and becomes inconsolible. So, we try to tread lightly with her and only use it when we need to. She is learning all about timeout because that girl has a temper. She bites, scratches, and hits when things don't go her way.
Julienna is talking more and more everyday. There are still a lot of times she says something and I can't figure it out, but for the most part we can understand her. She loves "songs" and singing and dancing and she knows "lexa" (echo dot) plays those songs for her so she is always saying "lexa pay eye tiger" (which is Katy Perry's Roar). Probably her favorite words are "I do" and "I come". Meaning, she wants to do the task without your help. This one is really hard for me because she either picks the most difficult task or the worst timing. Like when we are late and she wants to buckle her seat belt or she wants to carry a giant bag of groceries. But I do love that she will put her own pants on (90% of the time they are backward) and can get her own spoon. And when she asks me for something (like her blanket) and I tell her that I will go get it, she always wants to come....always. But she is too cute to resist. Oh, and so cute when she says "I feezing" when she is cold. Either in her carseat in the mornings or because she spilled something on her shirt and insisted on taking it off but wouldn't put another one on. She says it with her fists and arms balled up next to her body and has a little pitiful look on her face.
Her hair is getting so long but she won't let me ever do it. She says "stop" and then pushes my hands away. Sometimes I can bribe her into letting me put in pigtails, but it's not very often. Although, she will let nana do her hair and put in all sorts of ponytails and barretts. So she always looks so cute when she comes home from nana's house. She even let Suzanne cut her hair. She pretends to cut her bangs with her fingers when you ask her about a hair cut.
Julienna always has a concern for the dogs. Every morning she has to see both Barney or Tucker or she asks "where (whichever dog is missing?" and then we have to find him. It's very sweet. She gets really excited and proud when she pets them. And she uses her stern voice to tell them "out kitchen". They have caused some tears when Tucker eats her toast left out, but all in all she loves them. She is my great big helper at feeding them and loves to carry the cups and pour it in their dishes. She has to keep them in line if they try to eat before she is ready and inevitably she always spills Tucker's food and sits there picking up each piece while Tucker anxiously awaits. Barney she usually has to push away because he can't hear, but they both listen to her.
Her other love is music. She knows how to navigate my phone to find her favorite songs and music videos. If I let her, she would watch them all day. She sings along and surprisingly knows a lot of words. She likes the songs from "Pete's Dragon" and most Katy Perry songs. She dances to the her own beat and it makes me happy to watch her.
Julienna does not love time-outs. It usually takes two times in time-out for her to be ready to come out. The first time she goes in crying and I tell her she can come out when she is ready to say sorry (it's usually from hitting, she has a temper). She will come out once and still be teary and not say sorry so she goes back in and within a few minutes she comes out all smiles and says "I sorry" and gives big hugs.
She is getting more independent at playing. She loves her dollies, kitchen, princess castle, and playdough. She likes to take the clothes on and off the babies, carry them around, and put them in the stroller. She switches between favorites, but generally the favorite is her little doll. She is pretty good about making pretend food in her kitchen. She will come up and ask "like?" as in what would you like to order. She learned that from watching Kingston. Then you tell her something and she says okay and runs back to her kitchen to prepare something for you. Her specialty is cupcakes..80% of the time that is what you get no matter what you order. Her playdouging is similar with putting little pieces in a dish, brining them to you, and then pretending to eat them. Although, Kingston refused to share playdough with Julienna because she mixes the colors and leaves pieces out. I had to remind him that he did that exact same thing not long ago. She has a little princess castle with princesses and a doll house with some people at the cabin and she enjoys playing with those and moving the people around. It doesn't keep her entertained quite as long as playdough, but she likes it.
She is crazy smart (although I'm probably bias). She can count to ten and even knows some double digit numbers. She is selective on her colors. She sorta knows them but her go to answer for "what color is this?' is "green!" But every once in awhile I will ask her something and she gets the color right, so I don't know. She loves singing A, B, C's and knows probably 85% of the letters.
She loves, loves, loves books. And the same ones over and over. Her current favorites are "Strawberry Shortcake Puppies", "Eyes, Ears, Nose, Mouth", "5 little Monkeys", "Kai-lan", "Up, Up, Up", "Animal Boogie", and "My Truck is Stuck." I have them all memorized!! She even likes to read them to herself and mumble something as she turns the pages.
Bandaids make everything better in Julienna's eyes. I should proably start buying them at Costco the way we go through them. It doesn't matter how minor the bump, everything needs a bandaid. And it doesn't even have to go on the scratch/bump to make it better. Bandaids provide systemic treatment, especially when placed on the face..it's a guaranteed laugh!!
Her and Kingston know how to push eachother's buttons. They will fight and make up in the blink of an eye. But ultimately, they have eachother's backs. Whenever one is hurt, the other is always there to make it okay. Kingston comes to Julienna's rescue when she is in trouble saying "she is just learning". And Julienna just follows and copies everything Kingston does. They are amazing kids and so lucky to have each other.
