Grocery Store

November 26-
Kingston loves to go to the store with me and I love having a little helper.  We usually get suckered into a bag of chips right away because they are on the first display when we walk in.  Kingston snacks on those for most of the trip.  Then we hit the fruit section and he holds the bag open and counts out my apples. He never lets me forget a twist tie!  In the canned veggies aisle he knows that daddy likes corn ("Kingston no like corn") and mommy and him like green beans.  The cereal aisle is lots of fun because it also has fruit snacks!  If we don't get chips, we end up opening a box of cereal.  And I totally see why marketing is so profitable. I spent the extra 50 cents on the bigger box of Lucky Charms because it had a bus on the box and Kingston was insistent on the bus (if you are not a mom, you won't understand, but I choose my battles and a melt down in the grocery store is not worth 50 cents....there are better learning opportunities).  And since we have a grown kid at home (daddy), we end up with quite a few boxes of good sugary cereal.
Next, we pick out cheese and then the candy! Kingston is eyeing the bulk candy the whole time.  We pick out a few suckers and smarties and then tie the bag up. At first, he struggled with the idea that he couldn't eat them right away, but now he has gotten the hang of it.
Then the milk and yogurts.  He loves to pick out the yogurts and toss them in the back of the cart, although most of them he keeps up front with him, along with all the other good stuff!  We swing by the frozen aisle and get waffles and ice cream before picking out bagels and bread up front.
He is even getting really good at putting all the stuff on the conveyor belt.  Last time he put his juice cup on and his "suitcase".  He chats it up while I bag and then he gets to put any coins from my change in his pocket for his piggy bank.
It's a good time for us both!
