July 30-Aug 1
Jonathan had his guy's weekend back in April, but us girls decided to hold out until summer and I think it was worth the wait. It has been so hot in Boise, that it was nice to get up to the cooler mountain temperatures!!
Joy took me, Kelly, Emily B, Alyssa, and Amber up on Friday night in the minivan. We were definitely packed in, but the ride flew by. There was the usually chit chat and catching up, but we also played "Are you smarter than a fifth grader?" Emily, Amber, and I were all on the winning team, and we actually learned some random information (2 humped camels are only found in Asia).
We got to the cabin around 8:30 and had just enough time to unpack, make our beds, and grab a glass of wine. We sat around the living room telling stories and laughing.
Saturday morning Alyssa and I got up relatively early because we were in charge of breakfast. We did a breakfast casserole (which you make the night before) and then had some strawberries, pineapple, and orange juice.
After we cleaned up dinner, we played a few games of "Monopoly deal". Kelly won*, but she is also the one who taught us how to play and that is why she gets an asterisks by that win.
Around 11:00, Jane and Emily D arrived. By 11:30 we had made a group decision to finally wake up Joy (she hadn't slept in for years)!!
Jane and Kelly were in charge of lunch. They made us some delicious turkey and ham wraps with pesto cream cheese sauce and sundried tomatoes!! Yum!
Then, it was off to the beach...at least for Kelly, Alyssa, Amber, and myself. The other girls stopped at some antique stores first. It was a beautiful day and after a little coaxing from Joy, Alyssa, Amber, and I got all the way in the water (before Joy came, we would only go up to our knees!).
We returned to the cabin and filled up our wine glasses while Joy and Emily D made us a gourmet dinner. We had lasagna, french bread, and a strawberry/feta/almond/spinach salad. It was so good!!
We even had a little bonfire with marshmallows and smores. Thanks Jane!!
After a while, the mosquitoes were too much to handle (they loved Kelly) and we headed back inside. We played a hilarious game of "Things" and got to know eachother better than we had ever wanted. One-by-one everyone headed off to bed. Joy, Emily D., and I finally turned the lights out at 3:00 am.
Sunday morning Jane, Kelly, and Alyssa left early. Amber and Emily B had muffins, yogurt, and fruit for us for breakfast. The rest of us slept in and then cleaned up the cabin and did laundry. The towels took forever to dry, but we made it out in good time.
Thanks everyone for a great weekend. I'm already planning the 2nd Annual Girl's Weekend.

P.S. It was my first weekend at the cabin without the dogs. It was a lot quieter and I slept great not having to listen to Tucker snore, but they were definitely missed!!
