Sick Kid

July 21-27

It started with a fever on Saturday morning.  Kingston slept most of the day and on Sunday he still had a fever, he would hardly eat or drink anything, and he was pretty short fused!  Monday morning he woke up with a temperature of 106 degrees.
I stayed home with him all day trying to keep his fever in check.  We kept cool washcloths on his head to keep him cool and we just took it easy...although I don't think he hardly napped all day...he just couldn't get comfortable.  We went to the doctor and they looked him over. I didn't think that they were going to find anything, but when the doctor looked in his mouth he knew exactly what was wrong with Kingston.  He had "hand foot mouth disease" and had little sores in his mouth which made him not want to eat.  It is a virus so there was nothing they could do for him.  Just medicine for the fevers and popsicles for his sore throat.
Monday evening, Nana and Pappa watched him so that Jonathan and I could go to Joel's birthday party.  He did really good over there and even impressed them with his walking skills.
Grandma came and spent the night with us and then had him all day on Tuesday.  He did lots of sleeping.  We went back to the doctor for our pre-scheduled "well baby" visit.  No shots, and other than being sick he got a clean bill of health.  Weight: 21 lbs 12 oz (31%) Height 30.5 inches (69%) Head 46 inches (36%)  Just a little underweight since he hadn't had much of an appetite.  She looked in his ears and although he didn't have an infection, he did have lots of fluid...which could turn into and ear infection.  Just one more thing to keep an eye on!
Wednesday Aunt Lindsay came to spend the day with Kingston.  He started feeling better and gave her some giggles and smiles.  Thursday, Kingston went to Aunt Emily's and was doing even better.  His fever broke and he started eating more.  Friday he went to daycare and did great.  And by the weekend, he was getting into all sorts of trouble!
Monday, he spent a fun filled day with Trish, Hannah, and Seth...
