June 11-
Dad made it through Round 1 of chemo. Days 2 and 3 were quicker (2.5 hours) with only one drug and Day 4 was just a quick injection to increase WBC to help fight infection. He seems to be doing pretty good so far. Only major side effect is fatigue, which is a hard one because he likes to stay busy, but still taking Leo for walks and getting out when he can.
He's looking forward to 2 weeks of no appointments!! Actually, he's got one in there for a blood draw and to meet with the nurse practitioner. They like to keep close tabs during all this to catch anything early, especially an infection since the chemo knocks out your good cells too. So, we all have to be careful to not bring him any germs. It helps that it is summer and the kids aren't in school.
I need him to save up all his energy for 2 weeks from now to watch Julienna in the Cherry Festival Parade! She gets to be on the parade float!!
