Boise Music Festival

July 24-
We have been so excited for the Boise Music Festival. Kelly and I spent our lunch break at a credit union last week to get tickets and in the end, we didn't even need them, but it wasn't a total loss because we did get to record a morning show ad for the radio station!!

We met Zac and Emily downtown and walked the few blocks to the park...unfortunately it was the wrong park. There was a "goddess festival" at Julia Davis Park and we didn't think the few attendees looked too promising for a Bret Michael's concert. We followed the green belt to Ann Morrison and were greeted by thousands of people. This was more what we were expecting.

We were most excited to see Ryan Star perform. We saw him earlier this year perform at a bar in Meridian and it was an awesome and up close performance. We were glad that he was back in Boise and even more excited that we had another opportunity to hear him play. We got there just in time to find a place in the shade to watch him. He had such a small time slot and only got to play 5 songs, but it was still fun. He even played a new song that wasn't out yet. After his set, we were all anxious to go find him and to see if he remembered us. We introduced ourselves and he totally remembered who we were (we just had to remind him where we saw him last). We talked for a little bit, and make semi-plans to see him later. He was so close to giving Jonathan his number, but in the end just told him to e-mail him later to meet up. Unfortunately, the circumstances didn't allow us to meet up, but hopefully he'll be back sometime soon.

Then, it was off to find some refreshments. Emily and I stood in line for a sno-cone for what seemed like forever (maybe 35 minutes). But Zac and Jonathan had to stand in 3 lines to get a beer so I guess ours wasn't so bad! It was so hot and the people watching was incredible. I think Emily and I had the most fun doing that. It is amazing the things you see at a free concert in the park. We met up with Mike and Nicole and Kelly, Nick, and a bunch of their friends.

We got to see Macy Gray, the Backstreet Boys, and Bret Michaels. I was excited to see Bret Michaels and have been following his reality shows from the Apprentice to the trashy and entertaining Rock of Love and Rock of Love Bus. It was fun to see him perform and the audience loved him!!

We ended the night with a late night stop to Carl's Junior because we had a coupon. It was so delicious after a day in the hot sun and only a snow cone for nourishment; however, Jonathan and I were both regretting inhaling it so quickly by the time we got home.
